I want to thank all of you for our amazing turn-out during conferences!  I was able to check in with every single family to discuss their first grader's progress!  I am so proud to have each and every one of your children in my class.

Our next round of conferences is at the end of February.  I can't wait to see you all again!

This week is conference week!  Remember that Monday and Tuesday are Early Release Days.  You can click on the schedules below to see what time your conference is.  I look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces!!

Our music video is finished!  You can watch below, or check out our SchoolTube channel!  We worked really hard on writing meaningful words for this PSA (public service announcement) and deciding what would be in our video.  The kids did a GREAT job!  Now remember - JUST PICK IT UP!

Today we explored a new website called Storyline Online!  It is a wonderful website that our Media Specialist encourages students to visit.  We listened to Sophie's Masterpeice.  We also got to choose two other stories to listen to!  We had so much fun!

You can visit Storyline Online at home too!  Click on the picture below to visit the website.

We have been reading Charlotte's Web by E.B. White since the first day of school.  It's one of my FAVORITE children's books, and the kids are falling in love with the characters as well!

We decided to practice visualizing.  I read a passage and the kids sat with their eyes closed, painting a picture in their head of what was happening.  After hearing the passage several times, students drew what they saw.  Then, we took a museum walk to see each other's pictures and compare our visualizations.

This week we've been learning about even and odd numbers. The students have requested that I post this fun video on our blog... here you go kiddos!
I'll post more updates over the weekend!  :-)

We can add doubles thanks to these awesome songs that Mrs. Giera taught us! You can use these links to practice your doubles at home or at the library!
To help us remember doubles, we made books with our doubles flash card pictures, and today we made cool doubles posters with stickers, stampers, and dotters! Find a cool spot at home to hang your doubles poster so you don't forget them!
